Common Questions About Airline Policies
Got questions about cancellations, flight changes, or name corrections? Find quick answers below — or call our experts anytime at +1 (833)-531-8319.
It depends on the airline and fare type you booked. Most US airlines offer a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of booking (DOT rule). After that, refundable tickets can be canceled for a full refund, while non-refundable tickets typically receive travel credit. Airlines like Southwest allow free cancellations on all fares. Call us at +1 (833)-531-8319 and we will check your specific booking immediately.
You can change your flight directly through the airline’s website, mobile app, or by calling the airline. Most major airlines including American, Delta, and United no longer charge change fees on domestic flights for main cabin and above. Basic economy fares typically cannot be changed. BookFlightForme provides detailed flight change guides for every major airline so you know exactly what to expect before you call.
Yes — most airlines allow minor name corrections (spelling errors, transposed letters) free of charge or for a small fee. Legal name changes due to marriage or divorce may require supporting documents. The rules vary significantly by airline. BookFlightForme’s name change policy guides explain the exact procedure for 50+ airlines. For urgent corrections, call us at +1 (833)-531-8319 for immediate assistance.
Under US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, all airlines operating in the USA must offer either a full refund within 24 hours of booking (if the flight is at least 7 days away) or allow you to hold the reservation for 24 hours without payment. This applies to all fare types including non-refundable tickets. This is one of the most important traveler rights — and BookFlightForme’s guides explain how each airline applies this rule.
Airlines are legally required to process refunds within 7 business days for credit card purchases and 20 business days for cash or check payments. However, actual processing time at your bank can take an additional 3–7 days. If your refund is delayed, you can file a complaint with the DOT or contact the airline directly. Our travel experts can help you track and escalate delayed refunds — call +1 (833)-531-8319.
A cancellation means you are completely giving up your travel plans and seeking a refund or credit. A flight change means you want to keep traveling but adjust your dates, times, or route. Cancellations typically involve refunds or travel credits, while changes may involve paying a fare difference (the difference between your original and new fare). Different rules and fees apply to each — BookFlightForme’s guides cover both in detail for all major airlines.
